Something has to be done about Health Care... (none / 0)

Something has to be done about Health Care in the US.  But socialized or nationalized health care is NOT the answer.

I have lived in Canada, France and England and the health care systems were atrocious.  Long, long waits, rationing and unbelievable red tape.

BUT this is NOT saying that we don't have a tremendous problem here.  We need to find a sensible way to provide health care for everyone.

Don't we have health care for everyone now?  Universal Health care just assures the same crappy service for all, not that we all have it.  The uninsured can't get all of the services, but they also can not be refused by a hospital.

Kerry's plan was a decent one (none / 0)

Whether intentionally or not, the plan John Kerry outlined was nearly identical to the system in Ireland.  The government doesn't run all of the nation's health care; it essentially runs an HMO, that every citizen has the option of buying into.  It's cheaper than private health insurance, but you still have your choice of private hospitals and doctors.  It increases access to health care dramatically without creating a huge bureaucracy.
